Field of activity

The global project Inclusion of People with Disabilities is part of the Global Policy, Governance, Cities department at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. An inclusive and dynamic team supports the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in better taking into account the gender-sensitive inclusion of people with disabilities in German and international development cooperation.

Together with partners at global, regional and country level, the project implements innovative, human rights-based approaches and tried-and-tested solutions for the full participation of people with disabilities in various areas of international cooperation. The tasks include the conceptual and methodological preparations for the Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2025 in Berlin, awareness-raising and learning opportunities and the implementation of measures for the gender-sensitive inclusion of people with disabilities in cooperation with other actors.

The co-hosts of the GDS 2025 are Germany, Jordan and the International Disability Alliance (IDA). GIZ supports the responsible Federal Ministry in the preparation and implementation of the GDS 2025.

Your tasks

  • Supporting the team in the logistical preparation of the Global Disability Summit 2025 and providing technical advice to the responsible BMZ staff on event management in the preparation of the GDS.
  • Participation in the cooperation with event service providers as well as communication with the partners and actors relevant in the event context, including preparation of presentations, minutes, on-site and digital support.
  • Support in the preparation and follow-up, as well as recording of the regular exchange formats with the conference service provider, the BMZ, the GDS co-hosts and other partners.
  • Assistance in planning pre-events, workshops and panel discussions (virtual and in person).
  • Support in maintaining digital knowledge management
  • Taking on short-term tasks in day-to-day business

Your profile

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in event management, political or social sciences or similar.
  • You enjoy working in an inclusive, committed and cooperative environment and have initial experience in international development cooperation.
  • Initial experience in event management, as well as conception of face-to-face events.
  • You are curious about the topic of inclusion and have the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics, processes and work tools.
  • You have experience in independently researching, analyzing and preparing information using the relevant MS Office tools.
  • You are fluent in English and German. You have no problem writing texts and posting on social media.
  • Knowledge of inclusion or personal experience with people with disabilities is an advantage. We welcome applications from people with disabilities.
  • You are characterized by open-mindedness, the ability to work in a team, initiative, intercultural sensitivity, reliability, strong communication skills and organizational skills.
  • You work carefully and in a structured manner, even under high time pressure.

The monthly intern salary is €2,134.52 (gross).
