IFC is currently looking for an Extended Term Consultant to support the business development and client relationship management activities of the Health, Education, Hospitality, Retail and Real Estate cluster. Responsibilities will include conducting market analysis and mapping exercises to identify new target Western European sponsors/clients, desktop reviews of potential Western European clients/sponsors including detailed financial & credit analysis and background checks, support in preparation of pitchbooks and other marketing materials for client meetings, provide recommendations based on research and analysis, and support in client relationship management. Upon successful origination with Western European sponsors, there
will be scope to structure and execute these transactions.
The position is based in Paris and will report to a senior member of the investment team.

Duties and accountabilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conduct industry and market research to assist in IFC’s business development efforts.
• Analyze historical and projected financial statements.
• Review company, economic, and financial information and prepare reports on periodic
financial statements, project progress reports, and other information submitted by clients.
• Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes, including early screening, indicative terms, and investment/credit committee memorandums.
• Prepare client pitchbooks and other marketing presentations.
• Participate in investment negotiations, particularly early structuring, with possibility to help structure and execute transactions upon successful origination.
• Identify data points needed to support the assessment of a given investment in all areas including but not limited to financial, market, development impact and ESG.
• Prepare presentations and other documentation as contributions to IFC’s internal reporting and maintain internal reporting materials.

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations,
Science, Engineering, or other relevant fields.\
• At least 2 years of work experience in business and/or finance (e.g., business consulting,
investment banking, or similar fields).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound business judgment to identify issues
and present creative and practical solutions.
• Strong credit analysis and ability to develop complex financial models.
• Basic understanding of key aspects for investment transactions: technical, industrial, financial, environmental & social, governance and development impact.
• Good understanding of financial aspects of investment transactions, including how to conduct market analysis and determine financial soundness of a company or project opportunity and ability to conduct market and industry research and analysis.
• Strong business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on client needs effectively.
• Proficient in financial modeling and analysis tools such as Bloomberg and CapitalIQ.
• Ability to interact directly and support interactions with the senior management of potential clients.
• Ability to multi-task and deliver excellence under time pressure.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work without close supervision.
• Team spirit and eagerness to take on new challenges.
• Keen interest in development finance and multicultural environments.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (oral and written).
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English, and at least one other European language.
