Job Description

Description

Project Overview:

VillageReach, in partnership with Bull City Learning, is launching the HPV Vaccine Peer-to-Peer Learning Initiative in Nigeria. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the capacity of staff at multiple levels of the immunization system to improve HPV vaccine uptake, particularly among out-of-school girls. The project will implement and evaluate two peer-learning approaches:

· Learning Exchange Program – A structured problem-solving and knowledge-sharing approach where immunization staff at multiple levels (“HPV vaccine champions”) collaborate with communities to identify and address HPV vaccination challenges and implement solutions. Three teams of HPV vaccine champions will be formed and participate in the Learning Exchange Program.

· Peer-to-Peer Learning Groups – A facilitated model where sub-national health managers combine self-paced digital learning with peer discussion groups to reinforce knowledge and best practices. At least three Peer Learning Groups will be formed and participate in this learning approach.

Both approaches will incorporate some level of in-person engagement while largely leveraging digital tools and platforms to facilitate engagement between participants.

Position Summary:

VillageReach is seeking a Learning Manager for a temporary contract role of approximately 18 months. The role of the Learning Manager is to facilitate peer-to-peer learning approaches that engage participants at multiple levels of the immunization system with the goals of improving health staff capacity and HPV vaccine service delivery and uptake. This role will support the implementation of the Learning Exchange Program and the Peer-to-Peer Learning Groups, ensuring that participants effectively engage, share best practices, and implement strategies to enhance HPV vaccination efforts.

The Learning Manager will coordinate activities, provide facilitation and coaching, document lessons learned, and foster engagement across both in-person and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience working in health systems (ideally immunization systems), adult learning facilitation, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and participate in regular program meetings with VillageReach staff based in Nigeria and globally.
  • Provide insights and ideas to drive development of learning approach materials and tools.
  • Organize logistics and facilitate 1-2 in-person meetings for each Learning Exchange team and each Peer Learning Group.
  • Lead monthly virtual sessions with three Learning Exchange teams, guiding HPV vaccine champions in identifying challenges, co-developing solutions, and implementing action plans.
  • Facilitate entry meetings in selected communities to identify and recruit participants for a “community insights” session during the Learning Exchange.
  • Regularly support at least three Peer-to-Peer Learning Groups by ensuring structured discussions, knowledge-sharing, and peer mentoring.
  • Moderate and encourage engagement in WhatsApp groups, providing support and prompting discussions as needed.
  • Monitor engagement, troubleshoot challenges, and implement strategies to sustain participation.
  • Capture key lessons learned, success stories, and best practices from the Learning Exchange and Peer Groups.
  • Support participants in creating and sharing documentation (e.g., videos, photo stories, reports) to disseminate learnings.
  • Work with the M&E lead to track key indicators.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement meetings.

Learning activities will take place in LGAs determined in coordination with the government. The majority of the Learning Manager’s role will be carried out online, and in-person meetings will be organized when possible based on program needs and logistics. VillageReach will pay per-diem for travel and accommodation as required for carrying out learning activities.

Projected start date for the position is April 1, 2025. Projected end date for the position is September 31, 2026.
