General objective of the position
1. Ensure the positioning of ACF in the region as a key player in the fight against malnutrition.
2. Promote and coordinate the development of joint and regional initiatives between Action Against Hunger missions and HQs in West and Central Africa – on the technical and operational sectors.
3. Work closely with IDRU to develop our fundraising capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Objective 1: Strategically steer the ROWCA by ensuring that the strategy remains relevant to the changing context, that projects are implemented according to PCM best practices and that new high value-added projects are developed and financed.
- Objective 2: To represent Action Against Hunger and strengthen the Action Against Hunger network at the regional level at the national level, to promote positive relationships with key stakeholders, to relay Action Against Hunger’s messages and to ensure that Action Against Hunger’s programmes and lessons learned are highlighted, disseminated and promoted.
- Objective 3: Update and ensure the implementation of Action Against Hunger’s regional advocacy strategy, disseminate Action Against Hunger’s messages across the region and promote Action Against Hunger’s key points on nutrition, resilience and humanitarian crises (non-exhaustive list).
- Objective 4: Ensure adequate support for MEAL, Communication and HR sourcing/capacity missions
Do you fit the profile we are looking for?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration or similar training / or equivalent experience as Country Director or Desk Officer § Specific studies in humanitarian and/or development assistance § Good knowledge of project cycle management § Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
- Good knowledge of Action Against Hunger and its areas of expertise
- Essential: Five or more years living in a developing country with a strong management background. Three or more years of management experience as a Head of Mission, highly appreciated.
- Experience in negotiating with donors, setting up networks. English and French
- Strong representation and negotiation skills for donor negotiations and representation in high-level forums in the region. Relevant professional work experience at the national and international levels in coordination, planning, management, advocacy and strategic analysis.

- Formal long-term employment contract.
- Base: Dakar, Senegal.
- Salary according to Action Against Hunger’s salary scale and the candidate’s experience.
- Family status position.
- Expatriate insurance (health, life, repatriation, travel, etc.)
- Break tickets in a defined area, per diem break 215€.
- Return plane ticket for annual leave.
- Accommodation and accommodation costs.
- Travel expenses covered by the organization. .
- 25 working days of paid leave per year.
